Varied Styles; One Foundation

I experienced new and exciting learning this week as I explored the intricacy of applying learning styles in instruction. The use of style flexibility, choice of style objects, and applications of informational literacy will provide greater opportunities to reach the vast public. Providing accommodation, with open opportunities, produces changes in perceptions and improvement of lives through knowledgeable practice. The excellent instructional resources this week will enhance my practical knowledge and skills of Educational Alchemy applied in Library Instruction.

Consistently instructional researchers use modeling as an approach to establishing a foundational style of providing literacy instruction through flexibility and innovation. Applied to accommodate as many individual and group learning styles as possible, I will include, in my foundational structure, a constructivist standard of technological and instructional practice that is inclusive of the Comprehensive Learning Style Flexibility Model. (Boer) Objects will maintain a standard of application that includes portfolio development for students of literacy instruction that addresses the Kolb's Learning Style Model (Mestre) as well. Utilizing these educational perspectives provide instructional tooling for the cyclic transition of the learner through Divergent and Assimilation, then to Convergent, and finally accommodative learning stages. Gardner's Multiple Intelligences provides another valuable example of the wide range of theoretical approaches to providing literacy instruction worthy of foundational consideration; more importantly the author points out, in conclusion, that to achieve effective instructional literacy requires a carefully selected and clearly defined pedagogy along with monitoring and rapid feedback (Mokhtar).

In the article, Accommodating Diverse Learning Styles in an Online Environment, Beth Woodard refers to an observational trend toward two distinct and emerging groups of learners; defined as either Global Learners or Millennial's. Understanding these and other types of learner groups can also improve the accommodation for the necessarily diverse public that we serve.

Hello, my name is Delores Goudy. Welcome to Boundless Library Instruction. This blog is designed to provide reference materials and provide a portfolio from the participation in the LIS 491 Library Instruction course that I am taking at The University of Southern Mississippi. This blog will cover the topics of Teaching Effectiveness, Instruction Needs Assessment, Visual and Media Literacy, Library Usage Styles, Theory of Active Learning and Critical Thinking, Training, Tutorial, and Teaching Technologies, Evaluation and Assessment, and Web 2.0. These blog materials will be produced with the guidance of Dr. Stacy Creel, my instructor, and the resources and tools usage for this course.

.
I have chosen this course to supplement the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Degree that I am pursuing from the University of Southern Mississippi. For that degree, I have chosen concentrations of Business, Family Studies, and Applications of Teaching. As a result of those studies I have produced a collection of materials that I would like to increase by applying a basic knowledge of Economic Development and Library Information Science.
